There are a lot of things that are very negative about the COVID-19 pandemic, including the suffering and loss of life felt around the globe. However, in times like this, it helps to find the positives and to learn the lessons that make our lives, and future generations, stronger and healthier. As a real estate professional with more than 20 years in the business, I’m seeing a strong paradigm shift in buyers and sellers’ mindsets – a shift that is creating a lot of positive traction in Canmore real estate.
What’s Changed in Canmore Real Estate?
As large, bustling urban centres struggle to contain the spread of the virus, many people are realizing the draw of towns that are surrounded by nature, and smaller centers where distancing is easier to manage. Additionally, the rapid shift to working from home is making people re-think their need to live close to their workplaces. Faced with the knowledge of ongoing intermittent lockdowns and quarantines, be it government mandated or from coming in contact with someone that has the virus, most prefer to do their isolation in locations where nature is visible outside the window, where one can get outside safely to walk around, yet all the amenities needed are a phone call away for delivery or curbside pickup. Canmore real estate delivers this.
I’m also seeing a shift where Baby Boomers are expediting their retirement plans, choosing to buy a beautiful condo in an even more beautiful location, as they see that the daily grind doesn’t amount to much if one’s health is compromised. Why wait another 10 years when a maintenance-free condo and a grandchild-filled, less hectic lifestyle can be enjoyed now?
Rediscovering our Own Backyard
As travel to warmer climates during the winter – and travel around the world in general – has been halted until the pandemic is under control, many Canadians are rediscovering why scores of tourists flock to Canmore every year. Canmore is a nature-lover’s paradise. Yes, it is also a renowned destination for world class skiing, but it also has plenty of activities to do all year round. Rather than buying a property overseas and spending just a handful of weeks in it per year, and faced with ever tightening travel insurance restrictions for those that choose to leave the country during this time, people are realizing the value of a vacation property in Canmore.
Canmore real estate’s vacation properties, be they a cabin in the mountains or a condo in town, can be used year-round. Instead of waiting for that vacation, you could simply pack up anytime and stay for a weekend, a few weeks, or even a few months. Millions have visited Canmore as a top tourist destination. The opportunity for Canadians to purchase a vacation property in such an in-demand location is not going unnoticed.
Canmore Real Estate is my Specialty
I’ve grown up here, raised my family here, and launched my career here. As a local and loyal Canmore resident, I’m beyond thrilled that more and more people are discovering what makes Canmore special. Our protected lands mean that even though Canmore is seeing increasing numbers of buyers, there will always be plenty of nature-filed spaces in and around Canmore – the spaces for which our town is famous.
The pandemic is making us all see life in a new way. You can have a more relaxed, natural, balanced life. You can have the retirement of your dreams. You can have the vacation property you want. You can have it all thanks to Canmore real estate. Contact me today to learn more.
