As you start planning your summer hiking bucket list, it's important to not forget about the logistics - travel time, parking, wild life safety, and arguable the most important... Plain of Six Glaciers

Another popular out-and-back trail that I recommend heading to early in the day. You’ll come across other hikers on your adventure.
Grotto Canyon Trail
Easy | 2h 20min | 7.1km
A short and popular hike near Exshaw, Alberta with incredible views throughout. It’s a great challenge for kids and can be busy on weekends.
Moraine Lake
Easy | 2hr | 5.1km
This is one of the most photographed areas in Banff National Park because of its crystal blue water and incredible surrounding mountainscape. The shoreline takes about 2 hours to complete however the viewpoint is just 10minutes from the start.
Lake Agnes Trail
Moderate | 2h 55min | 7.4km
A popular trail in Lake Louise for the immaculate views, versatile amenities, and great accessibility – making it a busy destination. Get there early to snag your parking spot and be the first on the trail.
Cascade Mountain
Hard | 20.1km | 10hr
One of the most famous mountain Banff National Park, Cascade Falls. This challenging route takes you through beautiful terrain with breathtaking views. Bear spray is always important to bring with you and a MUST on this trail.
Policeman’s Creek Boardwalk Trail
Easy | 1h 15min | 4.2km
Weaving throughout the Town of Canmore, this scenic boardwalk is perfect for adventurers of all levels. If preferred, take a detour and hop onto one of the 70 other trails connected to this path and explore another area of the beautiful town.
Shadow Lake via Redearth Creek Trail
Hard | 8h 23min | 27.5km
If you’re looking for a challenger Shadow Lake is one of the most rewarding hikes you can go for. Just of the Trans-Canada Highway near Lake Louise is where you’ll find this fantastic backpacking trail. The best times to visit are June through September. Make sure you pack a spare change of socks, plenty of water, and a snack or two to keep you comfortable throughout the day.
Barrier Lake Trail
Moderate | 2h 15min | 7.7km
Following a mostly gravel road past the trailhead, this walking trail includes switchbacks and steep hills on the way to a large viewpoint.
Johnston Canyon
Easy – Moderate | 45min-4hrs
Johnston Canyon has multiple different attractions from Ink Pots to the Lower Falls and Upper Falls. A family friendly excursion the whole family can participate in. Be advised there are seasonal road closures heading to the Canyon – check for any updates before you head out.
Tunnel Mountain
Moderate | 1h 57min | 4.5km
This trail is a great start for those new to hiking but looking for something more challenging than your traditional route. The steep trail leads you to beautiful views overlooking the Town of Banff and further down the Valley.
Bow Falls Viewpoint
Easy | 50min | 2.7km
Great for a mid day adventure or family-friendly activity. Beginning in the Town of Banff head over the south base pedestrian bridge and follow the path along the forested area.

Three Sisters Pass
Hard | 2h 55min | 5km
This beautiful trail although difficult to find, is well worth it for the expansive viewpoints. With loose rock and some sharp edges, we don’t recommend taking you dogs along for the ride on this one – it’s definitely a challenge even for those adrenaline junkies out there.
The Big Beehive
Hard | 4h 45min | 10.9km
Experience the incredible views of Lake Louise! A busy trail to start that generally thins out past after Lake Agnes giving you more space and less traffic.
